Thread lifts and surgical facelifts work differently and are suited to different concerns:
-Thread lifts are minimally invasive and generally involve shorter recovery times. Most people return to normal activities within a day or two.
-The procedure is less invasive and more cost-effective than a surgical facelift.
-Results are more subtle, as threads are designed to support tissue and encourage collagen rather than replicate the dramatic changes of surgery.
-Suitability varies. Thread lifts are typically appropriate for individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity, often those in their 30s or 50s, depending on skin quality, anatomy, and overall health.
-A consultation is essential to determine whether a thread lift or a surgical approach is more appropriate for your goals.
Our expert team performing thread lifts has helped many clients fight the signs of ageing with this treatment. They can be performed in several areas of the face and the body, targeting areas that suffer from looseness, or giving an overall facial rejuvenation from the forehead to the neck area. They include jawline, jowls and smile lines.
With our thread lift treatment we will mark your skin in the areas where the thread will be inserted. Next, a numbing agent will be used to allow placement of the thread under the skin surface with minimal discomfort. There is no cutting, stitching or surgery.
Dimpled skin may be present and resolves within a week. Also very common is a mild swelling and bruising. You may also feel resistance when moving your face especially in the areas where the threads have been placed. Soft food is advised for the first week post treatment.
After treatment swelling will be present, real results will be visible in about one month with maximum improvement in six months.
Our thread lift treatment use resorbable synthetic sutures made of polydioxanone (PDO).
The threads last around 12 to 18 months. However, the lifting effect will last anywhere between 6 and 8 months, so it does have maintenance. We would recommend to have regular sessions every 6-8 months.
These threads are made of the same materials as those used during surgery for wound closure, and have been used for over 30 years. This means that PDO threads provide not only adequate tissue support but also predictable uneventful absorption.
Our threads are supplied from within Australia and they are approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration TGA.
Thread lifts are not suitable for everyone. Contraindications may include:
-Infection or inflammation at the intended treatment area
-Uncontrolled systemic medical conditions
-Non-absorbable silicone or other permanent fillers in the planned thread placement area
-Significant skin laxity with pronounced skin folds, where a surgical facelift may be a more appropriate option
A thorough medical assessment is required to determine whether a thread lift is suitable and safe for you.
